Lau Lukkarila

Confessions of an Ex-Perfectionist (2025)

Lau Lukkarila’s cabaret moves between a feverish autobiographical radio show and an intimate living room concert—a gathering suspended somewhere between palliative confession and naughty storytime. Dog-eared notebooks open up to reveal a patchwork of diary entries, memoirs of sex escapees, and half-remembered phone calls. Lukkarila switches between lullabies and (muffled) screams and tells of women who vanish and reappear in history’s footnotes, their migrations rewritten as love stories. This evening presents tales like wounds scabbed over.

Lau Lukkarila (1987, Oulu, Finland) is an interdisciplinary artist whose performative work explores will and wounds under the allures and burdens of affect. It has been shown at Mad House Helsinki; the Austrian Pavilion at the 15th Gwangju Biennale (2024); HochX, Munich; LOFFT – DAS THEATER, Leipzig; Kunstraum Niederösterreich, Vienna; fjk3 – Raum für zeitgenössische Kunst, Vienna; ImPulsTanz, Vienna; Brut Wien; and Tanzquartier Wien. Under the name Schoßhund, Lukkarila has also released three EPs. They live in Vienna.
