Between text and sound, between memory and prediction, a dialogue between two voices unfolds: What has happened since 2015? How did fascism return to parliaments, to the streets, to everyday speech? Is a life without fascism possible in the long run—and worth the effort? This evening provides a cursory ride through the last few years of European reality—an inventory, a debate, a hope. Mixing concrete events and personal reflections, populism, protest, paranoia, and pop music, the reading explores the tensions of the present moment and attempts to distill an antidote from language.
Nazis & Goldmund (founded in 2016 by Jörg Albrecht, Thomas Arzt, Sandra Gugić, Thomas Köck, and Gerhild Steinbuch) is a collective of authors that considers itself a multiheaded poetological monster that critically observes the European Right and its international alliances. Their texts appear on www.nazisundgoldmund.net, have been published in the magazine EDIT, and have been turned into radio plays by Bayerischer Rundfunk. Nazis & Goldmund has performed at Brut Wien, Literaturhaus Wien, Berliner Festspiele, Theaterformen, Hannover/Braunschweig, and in Serbia, among other venues.
